Box 66 Fax (952)249-4616 <br /> G1 <br /> gKESHO�� Orono,MN 55356 Crystal Bay,MN 55323 www.ci.orono.mn.us <br /> October 31st 2012 <br /> Elaine Pagonis <br /> 2740 Shadywood Road <br /> Orono MN 55391 <br /> Elaine, <br /> This letter is to confirm our conversation on October 30, 2012 regarding the boat house on your <br /> property.As you know the building is falling down and the city considers it to be a hazardous building. <br /> Your choices to remedy the situation are as follows. <br /> 1- You could obtain a building permit to repair the structure. <br /> 2- You could obtain a building permit to replace the structure in kind. <br /> 3- You could enter into an agreement with the city to have the structure removed.The cost would <br /> then be assessed to your taxes in 5 equal installments at 8% interest per annum.A ballpark <br /> estimate of$6000 has been received by the city for removal of the strucure. <br /> 4- You could obtain a demolition permit and remove the structure yourself. <br /> 5- You could do nothing and the city will proceed with a hazardous building action and obtain a <br /> court order to remove the structure.The cost would then be assessed to your taxes all at one <br /> time. <br /> City ordinance would allow you to rebuild the structure in kind if you were to obtain a building permit <br /> within 6 months of the demolition. If reconstruction did not start within 6 months the building would be <br /> required to meet zoning standards and setbacks and could not be rebuilt in that location. <br /> You requested time to consider your options and the city agreed to a time period of 2 weeks.
