2. These types of structures have been built and are still being built with the
homeowners understanding this is an ice maintenance situation.
3. There are ways to isolate the pilings somewhat from the ice.
4. The engineering needs to be proven in order to submit a complete and
comprehensive building permit application.
5. The building site also needs soil testing, foundation tests, and grading prior
to construction.
I have also contacted all the various agencies that may have an interest in this
structure or if I may need additional permits.
I have contacted the LMCD, MCWD, and the DNR due to the Ordinary High
Water Level (OHWL) involved at the construction site, along with their Hydrologist.
If the City of Orono would consider this additional time in order to submit a full and
complete building permit application, how much time would be considered in light
of all of the above issues?
I wish to build a structurally sound Boathouse that will withhold the ice movement
and to also meet the City of Orono's high standards and municipal codes.
Please let me know if there is any additional information that you may need from me
at this time.
Thank you for your kind attention to this matter,
Elaine T.
