She had <br /> a keen sense of humor,never gave <br /> vent to anger or complaint and was <br /> always bubbly. <br /> "She loved pink, as you can see, <br /> and her favorite flower was the pink <br /> rose. She also loved to have com- <br /> pany. An invitation from Mrs. <br /> Halpin was always treasured be- <br /> cause she was a congenial hostess. <br /> And she used every bit of the house. <br /> Recently,Margaret Foster,secre- "She preferred formal dinners to <br /> tary to and friend of Margret buffets, and served on one of her <br /> Halpin for more than 40 years, many complete sets of china.Royal <br /> toured Green Trees with Friend Worcester plates, Venetian glass <br /> of the Institute Patty Mertz.Miss goblets, and Capa di Monti lidded <br /> Foster recollects: soup cups were her favorites. A <br /> tureen and antique candlestick were <br /> usually used as a centerpiece. <br /> "She was extremely kind to her <br /> staff. At one time, she took paint- <br /> ting lessons at home, and we were <br /> invited to take them with her. The <br /> same with bridge lessons. <br /> "Her grandchildren and great- <br /> grandchildren were her joy. It's <br /> hard to envision lively young ones <br /> romping in this fragile French set- <br /> ting, but she loved having children <br /> around her. <br /> "She also loved poodles,as you will <br /> see. She was often photographed <br /> with them.Her favorite,Mr.Bou,is <br /> buried in the garden. She used to <br /> walk him through the woodland <br /> path every day.
