Mr. J'im Anderst -3- September 9, 2005
Figure 2 shows the number of parking spaces in the publ.ic parking lot, organized by parking
sub-area. The total nurnber of striped spaces in the public lot is 129 spaces. In additioii to
these public spaces, it is importauit.to note:the availability of spaces on private prvperties for the
businesses immediately south of the parking lot, Proceeding frotn west to east, the in.ventory of
private spaces is as follows;
a) Six spaces are available on the west side of the westerly-most building(adjacent to
the D'Vinci's Restaurant). T(ouglno spaces are marked, the size of this parking
area will accommadate six parled vehicles using normal parking dimensions.
b) 21 spaces axe available on the north side vf the westerly-most building. Again,
these spaces are unmarked,.but-could-beaccommodated within the area available.
c) About three spaces are availa, ble beltind the Narrows Saloon. The aenial photo
shows six parked vehicles in thxs.area, but the western three vehicles are in the space
that is proposed to be developed for outdoor seating.
The next step was to deternune the existing peak parking demand at typically busy periods.
Considering the peaking chazacteristics af the Narrows Saloon and other businesses that rely
upon the public parking lot, we detetmined tfiat tlte following three.time periods are most
critical in terms of the averall adequacy of spaces i.n the public parking lat:
• Friday noanperiod. This tin2e period encompasses tle busiest weekday lunch
business for the NarrowsSalaon and also is a period af significant activity for
multiple other businesses served by the public.parking lot.
• Saturday noon pe.iod. Siinilar#o the Friday noon condition, this period also
encompasses significant activity for thz saloo.and other af'ected businesses.
• Saturdcry evening. This period encompasses the busiest time of week for the Narrows
Salavn.
A detailed parking occupancy survey was conducted for each of the three above referenced
tirne periods. The survey consistad of recarding the number of vehicles parked in each sub-
area by 15 -20 minute interval during the following ritne periods:
• Friday,August 26, 2005,from 11:00 a.m, to 2:Op p.m.
. Saturday, August 27, 2005, fioxn.1:10 to 2:OQ p.m.
 Saturday, Augu.st 27; 2005, fron 9:00 to 11:00 p.m.
0i/b0'-1 il.9i RS' F •'1nH 5t -rx1uNa c•ca caa_aa_c
