.
Dieaen Wetland Delineation-page tvo -
Is the hydric soil criteiion met? Ye
Rationale: Based on the iow chroma values and moisture in the soil, they are considered Hydric. Oxidized
rhizosheres were also present. .
RYDROLOGY
IS the. ground surfuce inundated? On the dsy of the initial investigation,no, they were saturated as a result of recent ralns,
within 4 hours of the field inspection, and the reed canary matt was high in moisture content •
Depth to free standing water in pitlauil probe hole: Free standing water wapresent at 14 inches at the wettand
edge.
Other evidence of surface inundation or soil saturation: The area under investigation for a wetland receives
considerable surface drainage from the west and was saturated on the day of investigation. Westerly of the wetland
edge, the wetland is inunated but this is beyond t6e assessment area property boundary.
Is the wetland hydrology criterion met? Esting hydrology eahibits wetland charaeteristics. The
area has received " 125% of normul rainfall" for the current season, most of that was immediately prior to the
investigation. The precipitation data is attached.
Rationale: The wetland,as determined, maintains hydrology approaimatety 12-14 inches below groand level,
beyond the wetland.edges, the water tabte appears to drop dramatically as the edge is on a^5%slope.
JURISDICTIONAL DETERMINATION AND RATIONALE
The area invesNgated is a slope wetland. Hydrophytic vegetation is present and the soits are hydric, the
necessary hydrology does support a wetland.
Respectfully submitted: Date -- —
Gerald W.Gray,Preside-GBC nc.
Attuchments: Aerial photo taken G-7-99 showing approaimate:
a. soil test sites
b. wetland edge
c. dominant vegetafioa
d. outflow of surface water
J_1 LL., „a1r.7
.
