ACCEPT DONATION OF SPEEll CONTROL DEVICE FROM THE OFFICE OF <br /> TRAFFIC SAFETY <br /> Bob O'Brien and Susie PaImer of the Office of Traffic Safety presented the Safe and Sober <br /> Campaign Grant donation of a Speed Control Device to Sgt. Coi�rey Fal-�iiok of the Orono police <br /> department. O'Brien pointed out that the h-ue wimiers of this reward are the citizens as the <br /> department had eat77ed this device Uy decreasing the number of accidents within the City. <br /> Mayor Peterson cominended the Police Deparhnent on their fine work and thanked O'Brien for the <br /> award. <br /> Sansevere aslced if there was any push within the legislature for inandatory jail time for repeat <br /> drunk driver offenders. <br /> Although a relony DWI law is in effect, O'Brien stated that unfortiulately the legislahu-e has <br /> proposed decriminalizing some DWI offenses. <br /> Sansevere fottnd this quite disturbing and asked wlry this would ever Ue proposed. <br /> O'Brien stated that certain judges sttpport this proposal, since the courts are bogged down in DWI <br /> cases. <br /> PAGE 2 of 12 <br />
