MINUTES OF THE " <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Monday,January 9, 2006 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> 13. Extend Sergeant Assignment and Pay Increase <br /> Muiphy inquired whether this should be made a permanent appointment. <br /> Moorse recommended the assignment remain temporary to avoid the need to create an additional sergeant <br /> position. <br /> Murphy moved,White seconded, to approve extending the temporary working out of class <br /> assignment for Chris Fischer as a Sergeant for one year. VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> Murphy moved,White seconded,to approve a pay rate increase to the level of top Sergeant (which <br /> is currently$31.58,pending settlement of the 2006 Sergeant contract), and provide Sergeant <br /> benefits to Chris Fischer. VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> 14. Approve Contract for Legal Services <br /> White noted the City has changed legal counsel and welcoined Matt Brokl as the new city attorney. <br /> White inquired whether this representation is official without being published. <br /> Brokl stated nonnally ordinances are not enforceable and valid until published,but that the City's actions <br /> on other matters become official at the time the motion is approved. <br /> White moved,Murphy seconded,to approve the agreement for legal services between the City of <br /> Orono and Campbell Knutson,P.A. <br /> Murphy noted the City's previous attorney, Tom Ban•ett, served the City of Orono for 20 years and that <br /> the Council appreciates the work he has done for the City over the years. <br /> Mayor Peterson concurred with Murphy's comments. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> City Attorney Brokl reported he has met with Staff and that they have identified some specific items to <br /> discuss with the Council in the near future. <br /> *15. LICENSES <br /> There were no licenses. <br /> *16. BILLS <br /> White moved, Sansevere seconded, to approve payment of the All Funds account. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> PAGE 4 of 5 <br />
