Pollution Prevention and Housekeeping <br /> The permit requirements purposely were not designed to be highly prescriptive in nature in <br /> recognition of the fact that every community is unique with differing storm water issues and <br /> available resources. The intent of the permit requirements is that each community develops its own <br /> unique SWPPP based on a self assessment process and the development of BMPs that address storm <br /> water pollution control to the Maximum Extent Practical. The City developed a SWPPP with 43 <br /> BMPs to address the required six minimum control measures. <br /> Annual Meeting <br /> A public hearing notice for the annual meeting was published in the December 24, 2005 <br /> Laker/Pioneer newspapers. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for public <br /> comments on the Orono NPDES Phase II Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) which <br /> contains a listing of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for storm water management. The <br /> following items should be discussed at the meeting. <br /> o The original SWPPP <br /> o Status of compliance with Permit conditions <br /> o The appropriateness of the BMPs listed in the SWPPP <br /> o Progress toward achieving the Measurable Goals <br /> The Original SWPPP <br /> The storm water permit requirements purposely were not designed to be highly prescriptive in nature <br /> in recognition of the fact that every community is unique with differing storm water issues and <br /> available resources.
