r MEMORANDUM TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: ORONO MANAGEMENT TEAM SUBJECT: INFORMATION UPDATE DATE: JUNE 25, 2010 Information Update—6/25/10 • The attached email from Mike & Gina Lasher of 1360 Railroad Avenue indicates their support of the trail, but they oppose any trail parking in the Crystal Bay neighborhood. Staff is scheduled to meet with Boe Carlson of Three Rivers Parks on July 7 to further discuss the parking issue. (MPG) • Staff has sent a violation notice to the owner and prospective operators of a Boat Club that has recently placed commercial signage advertising the Club on one of the two residentially zoned properties associated with the former Windward Marine (most recently Marine Max) site at 1440-1444 Shoreline Drive. The two residential properties (1440 and 1442 Shoreline) are zoned LR-lA Single Family; the only allowed commercial use of them is for overflow parking for the marina operation, allowed via a conditional use permit granted as part of the marina license in 1980 and subsequent years. (MPG) • The attached letters were sent to LMCD, Water Patrol and Minnetonka Portable Dredging thanking them for their assistance in making the Big Island Weekend successful. (MPG) • Staff has received word from Met Council that the Comprehensive Plan submittal has been deemed as `complete for review'. Review by the Met Council's Environment Committee is tentatively scheduled for July 13, with action by the Community Development Committee on July 19, followed by Metropolitan Council action on July 28. Staff will be attending both committee meetings (potentially to also include Tom Kellogg and/or Steve Grittman). (MPG) • The attached special event permit for a wedding reception to be held on June 25, 2010 at 95 Smith Avenue has been issued. • The attached invitation was received from the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District inviting local leaders for an on-the-water learning opportunity about shorelines, stormwater, and keeping our waters healthy. Registration information is included on invitation. o "Shorelines and Stormwater: Addressing Impaired Waters and Protecting our Lakes and Creeks" o Wednesday, July 14, 2010 0 5:00— 8:30 p.m. o Aboard the Queen of Excelsior, Departing from the Excelsior City Docks o Registration begins at 5:00.
