MEMORANDUM
TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: ORONO MANAGEMENT TEAM
SUBJECT: 1NFORMATION UPDATE
DATE: JL7NE 11, 2010
Information Update—6/11/10
• See attached memo from Three Rivers Parks regarding E-Bikes. (MPG)
• Dakota Trail Parking: Boe Carlson has authorization from the Three Rivers Parks Board to
do additional analysis. I plan to meet with him later this month to discuss options for moving
forward. See attachments. (MPG)
• The Stonebay Lofts condominium building reached the end of its foreclosure redemption
period on Tuesday, June 8. We have since been advised by one of the two residents of the
Lofts that Arne Zachman no longer has ownership of that building, has moved out, and is out
of the picture regarding the condo property. The new owner is Citizens Independent Bank of
St. Louis Park. We have contact information for the new owners, and we are advised that
they have been responsive to the residents' concerns about building security, etc. Zachman
still apparently retains ownership of the vacant townhome lots and one or more model
townhome units. (MPG)
• The LMCC hosted an information workshop on June Sth and presented the attached
tonkaconnect proj ect plan and had a panel of experts speak about Fiber-To-The-Home. I
estimate 40 people were in attendance and the workshop was recorded for viewing on the
LMCC's website. (JL)
• The Organics Committee met this week to review the results of the website Organics Survey.
The survey results are attached in two formats—one is a graphic representation of the results
and the other is text, including all comments submitted by residents who responded to the
survey.
• The minimum state building permit surcharge fee has been changed for one year effective
July l, 2010 until June 30, 2011. The fee is changing from $.50 to $5.00 for certain"fixed
fee" permits. Since the state surcharge fee is collected by the city but remitted to the state,
there is no formal action required by the city. The monthly permit reports will reflect this
change beginning in July. Attached is a memo from the Minnesota Department of Labor&
Industry that provides additional background information related to the fee increase.
• Additional attachments:
o Metro Cities News—June 1 l, 2010
The City of Orono complies with the Minnesota Data P-actices and Open Meeting Law.
