MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> FROM: ORONO MANAGEMENT TEAM <br /> SUBJECT: INFORMATION UPDATE <br /> DATE: APRIL 16, 2010 <br /> • The following special event permits are attached and have been issued: <br /> o Gear West Duathlon— Sunday,May 23, 2010 <br /> o Kallas' Family Party—Saturday, June 19, 2010 <br /> o Wedding Reception—Saturday, July 31, 2010 <br /> o Tour de Tonka—Saturday, August 7, 2010 <br /> • In February, Orono was awarded$9200 from the Hennepin County 2010 Waste Abatement Incentive <br /> Fund Program to be used for arganics recycling. The Organics Committee has met to discuss options <br /> for promoting organics recycling and is developing an online survey to obtain information that wi11 be <br /> helpful in determining effective methods to promote participation in organics recycling. A city-wide <br /> mailing is planned for early May to announce the survey. <br /> • The energy audit was done on the public works building this week. The administration/police/council <br /> will be scheduled soon. The geothermal engineering feasibility study is almost complete. The�ndings <br /> of these studies will be presented at an upcoming council work session. (LO) <br /> • Staff was approached by the Long Lake Chamber of Commerce to review the directional signs that <br /> will be placed in Orono on County Road 6. The signs will be similar to the sign depicted in the <br /> attachments and will direct commuters to Long Lake. The design and placement meet county <br /> standards. <br /> • Common Bond has provided the attached letter stating their request to pay no more than $580,000 <br /> total in land acquisition and city fees. As you will note, the anticipated fees are $553,250 and the <br /> appraisal land value is $470,000.
