,r • <br /> Project Sponsor <br /> City of Orono <br /> Project Contact <br /> Tom Kellogg, Orono City Engineer <br /> (651) 636-4600 <br /> Project Description <br /> The City installed BMP's such as rainwater gardens on public property as part of the <br /> Casco Point Road Improvement projects. After completion some private property owners <br /> requested rainwater gardens on their property. These two projects would be completed by <br /> the City of Orono on private property at the request of the property owners. The projects <br /> offer additional water quality treatment opportunities within a portion of the <br /> neighborhood that currently has limited treatment. The projects are described in greater <br /> detail below and locations are provided on the attached exhibit. <br /> BMP A: <br /> This BMP will consist of a rain garden that will take run off from the street and treat it <br /> through infiltration prior to discharging in to Spring Park Bay of Lake Minnetonka. The <br /> work required will consist of excavation to a depth of 3 to 4 feet, installation of a 6" drain <br /> tile system, installation of granular borrow and pervious planting media, and installation <br /> of mulch and vegetation. <br /> Volume required is 113 sguare feet <br /> Phosphorus removal will be 100%. <br /> Estimated Cost: 60' 6" dir. Drilled $30 = $1,800 <br /> Rain Garden LS - $5,200 <br /> Total $7,000 <br /> BMP B: <br /> This BMP will consist of installing a pervious drainage swale that will treat runoff from <br /> the street and surrounding properties prior to discharging into a wetland, that discharges <br /> into Carman Bay of Lake Minnetonka. The work required will consist of excavating 3-4 <br /> feet of material, installation of a 6" drain tile system, installation of granular borrow and <br /> pervious planning media, and installation of stabilization fabric and vegetation. <br /> Volume required is 156 square feet <br /> Phosphorus removal will be 100%. <br /> Estimated Cost 535' 6" dir drilled $30 — $16,050 <br /> Swale LS — $5,500 <br /> Total: $21,550 <br /> Project Cost Summary <br /> BMP A and B Construction Costs: $28,500.00 <br /> Engineering: 6,000.00 <br /> Total Project Cost: $34,500.00 <br /> Grant Request Amount: $22,400.00 <br />
