� - 1 <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> FROM: LIN VEE, CTTY CLERK <br /> SUBJECT: 2010 CALENDAR � <br /> DATE: NOVEMBER 20,2009 <br /> Attached is a draft of the proposed official meeting calendar for 2010 based on the information <br /> below. <br /> Council Meetin�s <br /> Council meetings are scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Generally only one Council meeting is scheduled in December. Council may want to schedule a <br /> second meeting for December 6, 2010 to hold the Truth in Ta�cation hearing. <br /> Council Work Sessions <br /> Council work sessions have been scheduled for each Tuesday following a Council meeting <br /> beginning at 6:15 p.m. Council has expressed some interest in considering a different day and/or <br /> time for Council work sessions and may want to discuss further at the work session. <br /> Plannin�Commission Meetings and Work Sessions <br /> Planning Commission meetings are scheduled for the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. <br /> January and February are the exceptions because of Monday holidays. In those months, the <br /> meetings will be held the following Tuesday. No Planning Commission meeting is scheduled in <br /> December. Regular Planning Commission work sessions have been scheduled for the first <br /> Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. <br /> Holidav Schedule <br /> Per the City's personnel policy, the City schedules eleven holidays throughout the year, <br /> including 10 regular holidays and one designated floating holiday. The ten regular holidays are <br /> New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence <br /> Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas <br /> Day. <br /> Per State Statute, when a holiday falls on Sunday, the following day shall be a holiday; when a <br /> holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding day shall be a holiday. In 2010, the Statute applies to <br /> Independence Day and Christmas Day. In addition,New Year's Day for 2011 falls on Saturday <br /> which results in the official holiday designation as Friday, December 31, 2010. <br /> Staff is recommending that the floating holiday for 2010 be designated as Friday, Apri12, 2010, <br /> which coincides with Easter. <br />
