This waste of ener�y results in hiaher ener��ts <br /> and increased environmental pollution from unneeded power �eneration <br /> Dark Sky Policies. <br /> ]. The Citv finds that preservation of dark skies is an important factor in <br /> maintainin� the qualit� of life in Orono and that inappropriate and <br /> unnecessarv outdoor li�htin� can lead to lare li ng t tres asp s sky �low <br /> and other negative impacts inconsistent with dark skies. <br /> 2. Orono will encourage the use of efficient and properly desi�ned outdoor <br /> lightin� to limit the occurrence of these ne�ative impacts while providing <br /> for the necessary levels of safetv security and visibilitv appropriate to the <br /> area being illuminated. <br /> 3.
