� <br /> CMP Part 4F. Pubtic Services Ptan <br /> CITY ADMINISTRA TION <br /> The City of Orono is a municipal corporation organized and existing under <br /> the Laws of the State of Minnesota. Effective January 1, 1974, Orono became a <br /> statutory City pursuant to the terms of Minnesota Statutes, Section 412.016 <br /> Subd. 1. The City of Orono receives all jurisdiction, authority and legal <br /> responsibility from said Laws and Statutes, including the responsibility for <br /> protection of the public's health, safety, morals and general welfare. of particular <br /> and frequent importance in the City's normal course of activity are the provisions <br /> of State Statute Sections 412 et. seq. regarding the powers and duties of statutory <br /> cities, and Section 462 et. seq. regardinb comprehensive planning, zoning and <br /> subdivision reviews. <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> Orono's governing body is the City Council. The City of Orono is an <br /> "Optional Plan A" City pursuant to the terms of State Statute Section 412.572 <br /> and 412.�81. The City Council is composed of five elected members consisting <br /> of the mayor and four council members each having an equal vote. The mayor and councilmembers' terms <br /> commence on the first business dav of January followin� election and expire on <br /> December 31 st of the year of the next election for that seat. Election will be held <br /> for mayor and two council seats in 2010, 2012, and 2014 etc. Election for the <br /> other two council seats will be held in 2010, 2014 and 2018, etc. Vacancies in <br /> any of the elected offices are filled by vote of the remaining City Council <br /> members for the remainder of the vacant term. <br /> Meetin�s City Council Meetings are regularly held twice a month in the City <br /> Council Chambers at 2780 Kelley Parkw-ay.
