Septic System Design
Additional Information
Property
Owner: 9339 Kahler Ave NE Otsego, MN
Description of Waste Water Treatment System
This site is a newly formed lot. With a house proposed in the middle of the lot. The home to be
build will consist of 4 bedrooms with a walkout basement. The proposed septic sites are
northeast of the proposed home. 2-1250 gallon septic tanks will be installed east of the walkout
basement. A 1250 gallon pump tank will also be installed to lift effluent to the proposed system.
The mottling in the soil was found at 18 inches. Therefore an 18 inch sand lift mound with a
10x50 ft rockbed will be installed on the northeastern hill side. East of the group of trees that are
north of proposed home. The alternate site is located inside of the northern wooded section of
the lot. A flow measurement device must be installed on the pump tank. If a garbage disposal is
installed in the home an effluent filter must also be installed on the outlet of the 2nd septic tank.
This new on-site sewage treatment system is designed for a 4 bedroom home, Type 1 system in
accordance with the MPCA Chapter 7080 and local ordinances.
The soils on this site are sandy loam. The periodically saturated soils were located after going to
a depth of 18 inches_ This will lead 12 inches of usable soil underneath the mound with a 2 foot
sand lift. Therefore providing a 36 inch separation for the treatment of effluent above the
periodically saturated soils.
2-1250 gallon tank will need to be installed or reused along with a 1250 gallon pump tank to lift
the sewage to the treatment area. The power supply and switches must be located outside the
manhole and pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must also be
installed with audio/visual alerts. The supply line must have drain back to the pumping chamber.
From the pump tank sewage will be pumped approximately 75 feet to the mound. There will be
3-2" pipes each 3 feet apart inside the 10' by 50' rockbed. The mound will have a total footprint
of 55' by 88' with 12 percent slope underneath it.
All tank manholes should be brought to grade upon completion of tank installation, inspection
ports for the distribution boxes should also be at grade upon completion.
Keep all vehicles and construction equipment off septic area. Rutting and/or compacting the
soil will change the percolation rates and may lead to system failure.
Homeowner to verify all property lines.
Elevations are referenced to Bench Mark on tar of the road.
Ende Septic Service, LLC,24910 Territorial Road l ph.763-428-4489 orinfo(cDendesentic.com 1
