The
footing trenches were at four feet below grade with some water on a fairly firm clay. This was checked with a hand probe and
seemed solid and consistent all around. A dynamic cone penetrometer was applied on the north side and obtained a bearing load
capacity of approximately 3,500 pound per square foot. Verbal approval was then given to pour at the time of inspection.
Dynamic Cone Penetrometer Tests
Test Number: 1
Location: North trench 6'
west of existing
building
Depth Below Grade: 4'
Soil Classification: Clay
DCP Depth Millimeters/Inches: 303mm 111.9"
Per Blow Average/Millimeters: 30
N-Value: N-10
Estimated Load pounds Per Square Foot: 3,500
Spec Required- 1,500 PSF
Remarks: The dynamic cone penetrometer(DCP), uses a eight kilogram(17.6 pound)hammer to drive a 20 millimeter
diameter conical point into the soil, with penetration recorded in millimeters per blow. From the DCP readings, per
blow, penetration average was recorded and a N-value derived. This N-value, is an empirical relationship we have
established to equate the dynamic cone date to the more familiar blows per foot(BPF)standard penetration soil
boring test.
Charge Codes: Mobilization #701 1
DCP Tests 1 #601 1
Charge Per Test #304 1
Mileage #612 50
Signed
Gordon J.
