Co., MN
This site has an existing on-site sewage treatment system consisting of a Cesspool and
a drainfiield which is surface discharging in to a road ditch. This system is classified as
failed and is also an imminent health hazard which must be repaired or disconnected
within 10 months. To adequately treat septic effluent, a new system will need to be
installed.
This on-site sewage treatment System is designed for a Type 1, three bedroom home, in
accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Chapter 7080 and local
ordinances. Approval will be needed to be 10' from the north property line with the
system,
A lift pump will need to be installed in the lower level (basement) for all of the water use.
At present, the flow line for the basement is deeper than the flow line for the house and
deeper than the existing tanks. This pipe may just discharge to the ditch.
The existing tank will need to be abandoned, pumped and filled with soil.
The soils on this site are SCS soils mapped - L+B - LoSueur loam, The seasonally
saturated soils were located at 18"to 26" (mottled soil). Due to the seasonally saturated
soils, a Pressurized Mound System will need to be installed to treat septic effluent. The
bottom of the treatment area must be located at least 3' above the saturated soils.
The soils at a depth of 12" (th's#4,5 & 6) have a percolation rate averaging 8.5 mpi.
i
