A full-way valve must be provided on the cold water supply line to the water heater(see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.1800).Equipment used for heating water or storing hot water shall be protected by approved <br /> safety devices in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2210 and part 4715.2230. Verify that a <br /> temperature and pressure relief valve is provided for the water heater. <br /> 5. Showers or combination showers-baths shall be equipped with antiscald-type control valves. These valves <br /> must be of the thermostatic or pressure balance type in accordance with ANSFASSE Standard 1016-96(see <br /> Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1380, subpart 5). <br /> 6. The maximum water volume per flush of a floor-mounted water closet shall be 1.6 gallons. Water closets <br /> shall comply with American National Standards Institute Al 12.19.6--1990(see Minnesota Statutes, <br /> Section 326.37, subpart 2).Water closets in public bathrooms must have elongated bowls with open-front <br /> seats. <br /> 7. The specifications indicate that the PVC to be used for the drain,waste,and vent system will meet ASTM <br /> D2846,which does not meet the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. If plastic pipe is used for <br /> the drain,waste and vent system: <br /> a. PVC plastic pipe shall comply with ASTM Standard D2665,D2949,F891. <br /> b. It must be installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0580(F)and part 4715.0600. <br /> Above-grade horizontal runs of plastic waste and vent pipe cannot exceed 35 feet in total length. <br /> Above-grade vertical stacks constructed of plastic pipe may exceed 35 feet in total height only if an <br /> approved expansion joint is used. <br /> c. Solvent weld joints in PVC and CPVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to <br /> the pipe and cement(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.08 10, subpart 2). <br /> 8. The specifications indicate that the CPVC to be used for the water distribution system will meet the <br /> requirements of ASTM Standard D2665,D2949,F891 which does not meet the requirements of the <br /> Minnesota Plumbing Code.Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride(CPVC)pipe must meet ASTM D2846(see <br /> Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0520). The installation must be in accordance with International Association of <br /> Plumbing and Mechanical Officials(IAPMO)Installation Standards 20-98. <br /> 9. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2820. <br /> 10. Disinfection of the potable water system must include the following(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2250): <br /> a. The pipe system must be flushed with clean,potable water until no dirty water appears at the points of <br /> outlet; <br /> b. The system must then be filled with a water chlorine solution containing at least 50 parts per million of <br /> chlorine and allowed to stand for 24 hours; or a solution containing at least 200 parts per million of <br /> chlorine and allowed to stand for three hours; and <br /> c. Following the allowed standing time the system must be flushed with clean potable water until no <br /> chlorine remains. <br />
