6 . 40 <br /> SEC. 6.40. NUMBERING OF HOUSES AND BUILDINGS. <br /> Subd. 1 . Duty of Owner or Occupant. The owner or <br /> occupant of every occupied property and every house or other <br /> building shall place on such building the proper street number for <br /> • <br /> such building, either by painting or affixing such number so that <br /> the number shall be clearly visible from the sidewalk or street. <br /> A. Where the house is not visible from the street <br /> or private road, or is located more than 300 feet from such street <br /> or road, an additional set of numbers shall be placed on a sign at <br /> the driveway apron with numbers visible in both directions of <br /> travel on the street. <br /> B. Where more than one house is served by the same <br /> private driveway or unnamed private road, additional sets of <br /> numbers shall be placed at every fork or other driveway as <br /> necessary to direct traffic to every house including the house <br /> farthest from the street. <br /> C. Numbers placed on mailboxes are insufficient to <br /> satisfy the provisions of this Subdivision except when mailbox <br /> stands on subject property, not across a public street, and not in <br /> a group of mailboxes more than one in number. <br /> D. The minimum size for numbers shall be three <br /> inches . <br /> E. Numbers shall be reflective or of color <br /> contrasting with background. <br /> Subd. 2. Assignment of Numbers. The City shall assign <br /> numbers in accordance with the standard plan adopted by the City <br /> and shall approve and assign all street names by action of the <br /> Council . <br /> Subd. 3. Unlawful Act. It is a misdemeanor for any <br /> person to fail to comply with the provisions of Subdivision 1, or <br /> to post numbers other than the correct City-assigned numbers. If <br /> the property owner fails to comply with the requirements of this <br /> Section, the City may erect a sign adjacent to the street on which <br /> the number is stated or affixed, and upon completion thereof, <br /> ascertain the cost and certify the same to the County Auditor to be <br /> collected as any other special assessment. <br /> Source: City Code <br /> Effective Date: 4-1-84 <br /> (Sections 6.41 through 6.44 , inclusive, reserved for future <br /> expansion. ) <br /> • <br /> ORONO CC 153 ( 4-1-84 ) <br />
