MINUTES OF THE CITY OF ORONO <br /> PARKS, OPEN SPACES AND TRAILS COMMISSION MEETING <br /> MONDAY,AUGUST 6, 2001 <br /> Ilse commented it would be nice to have play equipment at this location due to the amount of <br /> families that will be there. <br /> Gappa stated no action has been taken on the lease agreement Gappa stated the lease will need to <br /> be clarified. <br /> McDermott stated the City leases half of the fields to the baseball association, with the school <br /> district now leasing the other half. <br /> Ilse stated the City of Orono probably would not locate play equipment on school property. <br /> Gappa indicated issues dealing with lighting, traffic, and noise would be addressed during the <br /> conditional use permit process. <br /> Ilse noted the contract between the Baseball Association and the City says no lights and no <br /> advertising signs. Ilse suggested the contract be reviewed since a lot of those issues were <br /> previously covered. <br /> Gappa noted the Baseball Association does have a conditional use permit for the other fields. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Ilse thanked the Public Works Department far their work at the Seven Nations Park. Ilse stated <br /> she does have a concern if there is not a trail to Thoroughbred. <br /> McDermott stated the trail is mowed to the cul-de-sac in Thoroughbred. <br /> Ilse suggested some wood chips be placed along that trail as well.
