To guide the commission it <br /> was suggested that citizens of the city be <br /> surveyed to determine their needs and desires. <br /> Dick Benson suggested that the city zoning <br /> administration could be of assistance. <br /> Council woman Butler suggested that important AGENDA ITEMS <br /> matters be brought to the council meetings as <br /> formal agenda items, rather than merely "Park <br /> Commission comments" as is done currently. <br /> All in attendance felt the meeting was very MEETING INFORNIATIVE <br /> informative, and that joint meetings be <br /> scheduled several times each year. <br /> Kelley brought up the subject of the current <br /> status of Bederwood Park. Dick Benson mentioned BEDERWOOD PARK <br /> that he has recently written another letter to <br /> Captain Langhoff, Army Engineers Bn, requesting <br /> inclusion of the Bederwood project in the Spring <br /> of 1980 schedule. <br /> A recommendation was made to concentrate on the NAVARRE PLAYGROUND NAME <br /> playground near Navarre, and further to consider <br /> naming the area "Val Eliot Playground. " <br /> Also discussed was the situation of Highwood Park HIGHWOOD PARK <br /> and its potential improvement. It is currently in <br /> poor condition and needs some attention to become <br /> a viable recreation area. <br /> Tomlinson made a motion that Deborah Massengale MASSENGALE APPROVED. <br /> be recommended to the council to fill the term <br /> of Roland Berglund on the Park Commission.
