Box 66
Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323
Re: Bruce Dayton
Our File 6038-1
Gentlemen:
Mr. Dayton in the past has eressed his wishes to convey to the City of Orono
for park purposes a certain parcel of land on the Southeast side of Long Lake.
You have an actual description of the land that Mr. Dayton would like to
dedicate. It is my understanding that tfie parties who own tfie land immediately
to the West of the land owned by Mr. Dayton also desires to dedicate his land
to the City of Long Lake far park purposes. The egact status of this dedica-
tion is not known to the undersigned, but I am providing you this information
for background purposes.
Mr. Dayton proposes an outright gift of the property to the City. This out-
right gift to the City will contain the necessary provisions to insure that
the land will be used for park purposes and that the area will be open to the
general public without restrictions as to area of residency race or creed.
I would like you to make an affirmative decision that the land is (1) desireable
for park purposes, (2) that the City will accept the land for park purposes, and
(3) that the acceptance would be for the general use of the public at large, sub-
ject to those restrictions that the City feels are necessary for the preservation
of public health and safety, and are to be uniformily applied to the public at
large.
The exact wording of the deed and the reservation clause can be worked out between
our office and the City Attorney, once we have obtained Park Commission concurrence
in the desireability of obtaining this land for park purposes.
Mr. Dayton would like to give as much land as possible to the City for park
