.• <br /> ,4 ,,. , . <br /> T�IINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING HELD JULY 30, Y9?4 Page 2 <br /> Leipold moved, Kubalsky seconded, that the HACKBERRY PARK <br /> ?ark Board recommend that the Council accept, <br /> in �rinciple, the proposal that the Optimist <br /> Club be allowed to develop and equip <br /> Hackberry Park and that specific plans be <br /> presented to the Park Tioard before any <br /> actual construction or development takes <br /> place. Motion, Ayes (6) - Nays (0) . <br /> Opheim introduced a letter from the LUCE LINE TRAIL <br /> Metropolitan Council concerning funding <br /> of the development of the Luce Line Trail. <br /> The report (Metropolitan Council Referral <br /> File No. 2181) was read and discussed. <br /> Various board members were concerned as <br /> to what was meant by "Stubbs Bay Parking" <br /> on the map attached to the report. At <br /> present, there is not an area available <br /> for parking at Stubbs Bay. Their opinion <br /> was that they did not wish to see the <br /> Larson property used as a parking area. <br /> �Tembers also expressed the opinion that they <br /> did not wish to see Stubbs Bay used as a <br /> staging area for westward use o� the trall. <br /> Panuska moved, Peasley seconded, that a <br /> letter be written to the P+Ietropolitan <br /> Council stating that the Park Board <br /> wishes more detailed information on any <br /> plans for parking at Stubbs Bay and on <br /> the westward use of the trail. It was <br /> further moved that it be expressed in the <br /> letter that the Park Board approve the <br /> overall concept of the trail. A copy to <br /> be sent to DiVR Trails Coordinator, Jim <br /> Blumendahl. Motion, Ayes (6) - Nays (0) . <br /> Pete Jacobson, Park Planner with the NIETROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br /> I�ietropolitan Council, was present at the <br /> meeting. He 3iscussed the relationship <br /> of the Metropolitan Council to the Orono <br /> Park Board and the various services <br /> available to the Orono Park Board from <br /> the T�Zetropolitan Council. <br /> A need was expressed for a questionnaire QUESTIONNAIRE <br /> for use by the Park Board to survey park <br /> needs in Orono. Leipold volunteered to <br /> draft such a questionnaire. <br />
