i4IINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING HELD AUGUST 21, 1973 Page 3 <br /> The fencing, basketball hoops , and climbiiig DANIELS' NAVARRE PARK <br /> play equipment has been installed at the back <br /> of tiie Navarre parking lot . <br /> Panuska announced that each Village on the LUCE LINE TRAIL REPORT <br /> Luce Line is having hearings to find out <br /> what has to be done on the trail project, <br /> Orono will }iave an open public l�earing this <br /> fall. <br /> i�r. Jim Blumenthall , Assistant Trails <br /> Coordinator, llepartment of Ilatural Resources <br /> for b4innes�ta, was introduced. He presented <br /> sliaes on trails , their uses and specifically <br /> on tlie Luce Line. A discussion followed. <br /> The Trail sliall be for multiple uses where <br /> feasible. Types of uses sliould be consistant <br /> with the local area. Resolutions for trail <br /> uses are to be sent to the Department of <br /> Natural Resources . The department must be <br /> sIiown if a use is not feasible. <br /> In higli densi_ty residential areas , where home <br /> o�aners object to snowmobile uses, help is <br /> needed for recommendations for alternate <br /> routes . The State has some funds for this <br /> purpose. T}iere are also funds for policing <br /> ancl enforcement and planting of vegetation <br /> to reduce noise levels. <br /> Tiie State t,rill provide 65% of the funds for <br /> alternate routes . The land must be surveyed <br /> in detail . tlolunteer time of caorkers can <br /> be taken out of the 35$ cost to tlie local <br /> muiiicipality, <br /> Letters have been sent out to locai municipalities <br /> requesting names of trail people witli w;iom t,ie <br /> State is to worIc. <br /> Jarl moved, Opheim seconded, that Panuska <br /> be t�ie official trail representative for <br /> Orono as rec�uested by tlie State Department <br /> of Natural Resources , i�lotion, Ayes (7) - <br /> Nays (0) . <br /> The meeting adjourned at 10: 05 P.A4.
