Edwards, P.E. Agenda Section: Approval Of Minutes <br />Dir, Public Works/City Engineer <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this item is to provide a record of the items discussed at the June 6th 2019 <br />Park Commission Work Session. <br />2. Agenda. The work session had the following agenda. <br />a. Park Winter Activities/ Ice Rinks <br />b. Lurton Park Event <br />c. Holiday Tree Lighting Event <br />d. Big Island Panels <br />3. Points of Discussion. <br />a. Park Winter Activities/ Ice Rinks. <br />• Commission reviewed data from the Winter Activities Survey <br />• Commission discussed no longer providing municipal ice rinks at parks based on cost effort <br />and lake of existing infrastructure. <br />• Direction to staff to prepare a language for a recommendation to council to discontinue <br />providing ice rinks. Or to be "all in or all out" with respect to ice rinks <br />b. Lurton Park Event <br />• Goal of event is to establish a Friends of the Park Group. <br />• Direction to staff to invite scouts who have worked in the park in the past to the event <br />• Direction to staff to provide paver flyer and annual pass application for the event. <br />• Staff to provide a water jug, a table and chairs for the event. <br />• Preparation updates- <br />• Paver contractor to have example pavers <br />o Commission volunteers to perform beatification work at park <br />o Special event permit is complete with the city. <br />c. Holiday Tree Lighting Event <br />• Commissioner Jan Berg provided a update on plans so far. <br />• Event planned for December 7' at 6 PM at the Golf course. <br />• Direction to staff to remove maple trees and have a pine tree planted off the west end of the <br />parking lot. <br />d.
