First determine whether it is appropriate to stop the source of <br /> the spill or to limit the flow. <br /> Be sure to protect yourself before proceeding. <br /> Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. <br /> Do not allow anyone to walk in the spilled material. Prevent <br /> vehicles from driving over spilled material . For traffic control <br /> materials, see page <br /> a) STOP SPILL: Location of beveled stakes, a mallet, rubber <br /> strips, plastic tape and duct tape is listed on page <br /> b) CONTAIN: If the material starts to spread, contain by <br /> diking with sand, soil . Do not allow material to enter <br /> storm sewers, waterways, etc. , or pool at well heads. <br /> Our nearest source of sand is listed on page where we <br /> have access to about yards of sand. <br /> Our nearest source of soil is listed on page 15 where we <br /> have access to about yards of soil. <br /> Tools for moving these materials are listed on page )1 . <br /> Our own front end loader is listed on page 11 . <br /> • <br /> For larger spills which might go beyond the capacity of our <br /> own equipment, move to the following section on MAJOR <br /> SPILLS. <br /> 2 . After emergency containment is completed, start the recovery and <br /> clean up operation. <br /> If the spill is large enough use a pump to transfer spilled <br /> material into an emergency holding tank. <br /> Locations of pump, gasoline, appropriate fittings, and holding <br /> tanks are given on page )(2 . <br /> After first response and evaluation of the situation, notify <br /> appropriate authorities per the call list on page of this <br /> plan. <br />
