MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Monday,November 25,2019 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br /> Seals stated Thanksgiving is coming, snow is forecast,so everyone should be careful on the roads. Tree <br /> Lighting will be December 7. The Public Works Staff took care of all the decorating. If there is snow, <br /> sledding is possible. <br /> Johnson asked about beverage options available at the golf course. <br /> Seals said December 7 will be the opening night of the winter season at the golf course. There will be <br /> staff on weekends for limited hours; and there will be food and a variety of beverages available, including <br /> those of a fun nature. <br /> Edwards said he thought the hours were 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. <br /> Crosby wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving with special thoughts going out to Veterans who are <br /> overseas and can't be with their families. <br /> Johnson said he mentioned to Rief that maybe summer hours should be reviewed,as far as whether they <br /> should be kept as-is. <br /> Seals agreed that should be looked at and said she did not feel the summer hours are fair to the rest of the <br /> staff, commenting neither Public Works nor the Police get summer hours. In addition,Maple Plain <br /> extended their summer hours because that is the busiest time for a lot of their departments. <br /> Johnson suggested getting public feedback and said he knew of a couple instances where someone wanted <br /> to accomplish something but it was closed already. <br /> Printup asked if Work Sessions would be talking about it. <br /> Rief said it is on the schedule for January 27 and it can be worked on this winter. <br /> Printup wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and added we need to be thankful because we are the <br /> greatest country on earth. He referenced the history of the first Thanksgiving and encouraged fellow <br /> Council members to look up the story. <br /> Printup asked for clarification of the December meeting time. <br /> Rief stated the start time was 6:30 p.m. <br /> Johnson asked about the acronym along with the council meeting information on the website. <br /> Rief stated it was TnT,Truth In Taxation,which is a public hearing for anybody to comment on the <br /> budget.That meeting is set at the beginning of every year/when the calendar is approved which will take <br /> place at 6:30 on December 9. <br /> CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
