F-7
A pumping tank of this size should not be installed in a situation
where any drainback occurs. For example, with 6 gallons of drainback,
a pump would deliver a net of only 2 gallons per cycle. If drainback
in the pipe between the pump and the septic tank were 9 gallons,
the pump would continue to recycle continuously until it eventually
burned out.
Whenever such a pump is used to deliver raw sewage to a septic tank,
dose volume should be limited to minimize the impact on the pump.
Since a compartmented tank or two tanks are used, the volume
can be 5% of the first tank volume. Also, whenever sewage solids
are pumped, there should be two septic tanks in a series to provide
for adequate solids separation. ..
Pumping Station Specifications
A complete pumping station with a tank, pump and controls is shown
in Figure F-7 and in F-8 in more detailed form. The pumping tank
must be watertight and constructed of materials that will not corrode
or decay. The manhole should be installed to the ground surface but
securely fastened or locked so that unauthorized persons can't get
into the pumping tank.
ALARM WIRE
PIGGY HACK PLUG IN WEATHER MANHOLE COVER SFC''RI:0 TO
PROOF ENCLOSURE-OR LOCATE PREVENT UFAUTHORILL 1.1
IN HOUSE BASEMENT ENTRY
POWER SUPPLY--''fl UNION OR OTHER nUICK
.
