City of Orono
My name is Sean McNally. I am the owner of Koala Tree Care. I have been in business for over 12 years.
I have over 20 years of experience in arbor culture. I have worked for several different companies around
the country and overseas. I am fully insured and can provide hundreds of references and testimonials and
to my knowledge and quality of work.
When it comes to the Island on Lake Minnetonka that belongs to Sean Wambold, I could tell from the
main land that it is infested with Buck thorn and Dutch Elm (diseased Elm). In fact after walking through
the Island, there is not one living Elm tree. I did notice some species that are still living and doing fairly
well. Those would be Ash, Box Elder, Cedar and a couple of Basswood trees.
I always take a conservative approach to tree trimming and tree removal. In fact I often talk myself out of
business trying to convince people to trim their tree before cutting it down, of course it always depends on
the situation. I have worked for Sean on several occasions and I believe he has a good vision for what he
wants the island to be revitalized. My advice would be to protect any tree that is thriving on the island and
get rid of the dead Elm trees, some Buck thorn and replant with quality trees. I also would advise Sean to
treat the Ash trees sooner than later for the Emerald Ash borer.
Plan for island
Remove 70% of buckthorn as it has overtaken the island and invasive
Remove a total of about 22 trees standing but are dead many affected by Dutch elm disease all trees
have been marked
Clean up all trees that are dead on the ground
Obtain a burning permit to disregard all the wood and dead trees and burn in the clear area in the middle
of the island
Keep all living trees mark with ribbon with exception of buckthorn
5e&v ())CC/ 1 bOc
. ..♦ 0 •
Coil g\Cç o3
