Edwards Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this item is for City Council to reject the bid received for the CSAH 112 <br />PH2 Landscaping Plan. <br />2. Background. The cooperative agreement for the CSAH 112 Phase 2 project assigns Orono the task <br />of managing the landscaping project. Long Lake was responsible for the phase 1 landscaping. In March <br />of 2018 the Council authorized SRF Consulting to prepare plans for the landscaping project. Those plans <br />and a bid package were completed. In August 2019 staff solicited bids for the project and received one. <br />The bid is considerably greater than the engineers estimate and the budget for the project. <br />3. Scope. The landscaping project will be primarily focused around the Old Long Lake CSAH 112 <br />Intersection area as this is where the most vegetative impact is expected. This landscape project does not <br />include the restoration (Grass Seed / Sod) that will be undertaken as part of the main roadway project. <br />4. Cost. The engineers estimate for construction is $56,986. The City received one bid from Hoffman <br />and McNamara Co for $87,331. <br />5. Funding. The landscaping project is funded by the phase two turn back budget. The Cooperative <br />agreement budgeted $71,000 for the landscaping project. Design the project for $14,000 leaving $57,000 <br />for construction. <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend Council reject the bid. <br />7. Way Forward.
