Edwards Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this council action is to award the Bederwood Sports field project. <br />2. Background. The Orono Parks Commission is seeking to provide a sports field at Bederwood Park as <br />well as expanding and paving the parking lot. The intent of the project is to provide a facility to support <br />youth sports efforts in the area. To help offset the cost of the project the city submitted a grant <br />application to the Hennepin County youth sports grant program for $211,550 and was approved for <br />$136,275. Staff worked to reduce the scope of the project from the original submission to fit within the <br />budget. The design has been completed and bids submitted. <br />3. Project Scope. The project scope is a turf sports field, paved parking lot, well and irrigation system. <br />4. Cost. The city received six bids. The Bid Summary is provided in Exhibit A. The low bid was for <br />$322,782.00 from Sunram Construction. Funding for the City cost share, $278,007, for the project would come from the Parks <br />Fund. The Hennepin county Grant is for $136,275. The Park Fund projected 2019 end of year balance is <br />$360,060. <br />6. Staff Recommendation. Staff recommends award of the project. <br />7.
