AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 10 <br />Date: June 10, 2019 <br />Item Description: City of Orono Text Amendment: Water Meter - Ordinance <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards, PE Agenda City Engineer / Public <br />City Engineer Section: Works Department <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this council action is to adopt amendments to the city code for <br />water meters. <br />2. Background. Earlier this year the Council previously authorized a meter change out. In <br />preparation for the project staff reviewed current city code as it pertains to meters and identified <br />some area requiring updates and clarity. <br />3. Summary. Recommended changes are at Exhibit B. Key changes include: <br />a. Reference to meters as "radio -read water meter". New meter have integrated radio <br />readers as opposed to the radio transmitter being a separate device. <br />b. Identifying the Meters as city property. <br />c. Addition of a meter replacement process. <br />d. Clarification/ consolidation of the new construction process. <br />e. Addition of paragraph titles. <br />f.
