MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />VILLAGE OF ORONO MARCH 21, 1966 <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. CALL TO ORDER <br />by Chairman D. J. Russell. Members present <br />were: William A. Curry, H. S. Rice and R. F. <br />Dongaske. M. B. Scheller, Village Inspector, " <br />was also present. <br />The application for a Permanent Special Use <br />Permit for Ski Tonka was discussed. It was <br />agreed that a re -study should be made. Mem- <br />bers of the Planning Commission will meet at <br />the site at 5:1-S P.M., March 24, 1966. <br />Mr. Bruce Kelly was present representing <br />Edward A. Nicolay relative to a request for <br />recommendations on the division of the latter's <br />property on Casco Point. It was moved by <br />Curry, Seconded by Rice, that the preliminary <br />play: be disapproved, that core drillings be <br />made as to the nature of the subsurface sail, <br />that no more than five sites be allowed; and <br />`.hese contingent on sewer service. The motion <br />gassed. <br />A request for a set -back variance made by Mr. <br />Robert Keith was discussed. blevations were <br />carefully checked. The Commission, having <br />previously viewed this entire subdivision and <br />approved it, agreed that under our present <br />Ordinance, a variance was not necessary and <br />recommended that a 35 foot set -back be approved. <br />It was so moved by Rice, seconded by Dongaski, <br />and passed. <br />Site and building plans of the American <br />Lutheran Church were studied. Members of the <br />Commission were familiar with the site and <br />agreed that the present plans for its develop- <br />ment should be approved. It was so moved by <br />Curry, and seconded by Race. The motion passed. <br />Mr. Scheller presented plans for a building to <br />be erected in Orono's Industrial Park by <br />Washington Scientific, Inc. Dongaski moved <br />to recommend approval of the building permit <br />and site plans. The motion was seconded by <br />furry and passed, with H. S.
