ME <br />-Y <br />Page 2 <br />REWLAR MEETING90RONO PLANNING COYIIISSION,MAY 2091963 <br />Sandy Beach Area: The committee which studied the Sandy <br />Beach area report -ad their recommendationsgwhich were to leave <br />the cement works in the area on a non - conforming basis9but re- <br />zone the remaining area residential.The Commission approved the <br />report,but considerable discussion of "non - conforming use" then <br />came up9centering on the action to be taken when the 1967 dead - <br />line comes up9and particularly vrith respect to Orono °s several <br />xesortstall of which are non - conforming. A current problem is <br />that of Mr. Stenberg° s Sandy Beach Resort.Because of ill health <br />he desires to sell but cannot find a buyer because of this dead- <br />line of non - conforming use in a residential zone. Another exam- <br />ple mentioned was George Anderson's Stubbs Bay store where a <br />strict adherence to the ordinance would deprive a man of his <br />livelihood. <br />Detachment from Oro o: D.J.Boll brought; up the matter of <br />the deta`�c�ent of certain Orono properties to be annexed to <br />Spring Park9on petition of said property owners. Wm.Mills <br />brought out the fact that there were certain mutual advantages <br />to be gained regarding the sewer program. The Commission dis- <br />cussed the possibility of a contractural relation between the <br />two villages on this matter. <br />Cleveland moved9Nice seconding, that Spring Park be ap- <br />proached with suggestions as to mutual general benefits of an <br />exchange of properties.
