1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 Project Description <br /> Welch Forsman Associates,Inc.is planning to construct a new garage building on the property <br /> at 755 Tonkawa in Orono,Minnesota and retained Haugo GeoTechnical Services (HGTS) to <br /> perform a geotechnical exploration to evaluate the suitability of site soil conditions to support <br /> the proposed garage. <br /> 1.2 Purpose <br /> The purpose of this geotechnical exploration was to characterize subsurface soil and <br /> groundwater conditions and provide recommendations for design and construction of the <br /> proposed new garage building. <br /> 1.3 Site Description <br /> The project site is located at 755 Tonkawa Road in Orono,Minnesota. The lot contains a single <br /> family residence with an attached garage in the west end and one outbuilding near the location <br /> of the proposed garage. The lot surface is rolling,with ground surface elevations at our boring <br /> locations ranging from about 961 to 963 feet mean sea level(MSL). The site is situated between <br /> North Arm and Stubbs Bay of Lake Minnetonka. <br /> 1.4 Scope of Services <br /> Our services were performed in accordance with the Haugo GeoTechnical Services LLC <br /> proposal 16-0219 dated March 23,2016 and under the terms of our General Conditions. Our <br /> scope of services was limited to the following tasks: <br /> • Completing two (2) standard penetration test borings, extending each boring to a <br /> nominal depth of 20 feet. <br /> • Obtaining GPS coordinates and elevations at the soil boring locations. <br /> • Visually/manually classifying samples recovered from the soil borings. <br /> • Preparing soil boring logs describing the materials encountered and the results of <br /> groundwater level measurements. <br /> • Preparing an engineering report describing current soil and groundwater conditions, <br /> and providing recommendations for site development. <br /> 1.5 Documents Provided <br /> We were provided with a Site Plan dated Garage Review March 16, 2016 prepared by <br /> Peterssen/Keller Architecture. The site plan shows the proposed location of the new <br /> garage building and existing property features. The construction plans provided were <br /> indicated not for review. <br /> 1 <br />
