Christine Mattson
From: Christine Mattson
Sent: Tuesday, June 12, 2012 4:26 PM
To: 'chris@artisticlandscapes.biz'; 'patrick.middleton@mcquay.com'
Subject: 720 Tonkawa Road
Attachments: Zoning Permit Application 2012.pdf; Hardcover Calculation Worksheet.pdf; Hardcover
Information.pdf; retaining walls.pdf; Survey Requirements.pdf; admin@ci.orono.mn.us_
20120612_162122.pdf
Hello,
I understand a stop work order was issued for your project at 720 Tonkawa Road. This property received a
variance in 2009 granting, among other things, a hardcover variance in the 75-250' zone of 4,860 square feet
or 55.40 percent.
I have attached the zoning permit application required for retaining walls under 4 feet high. Walls over 4 feet,
require a building permit and must be certified by an engineer. Walls replaced in-kind(same size and
location) don't require an updated survey, but if the walls are being replaced with different material or in a
different location an updated survey is required with existing and proposed hardcover calculations. Make sure
silt fencing is installed until vegetation is established.
The application fee is $50, but since the work was started without a permit, the permit fee is doubled, so $100
will be due when the permit is issued. Also attached is an escrow agreement to be signed by the property
owner. The property owner is responsible for paying the escrow amount.
Remember, no further work at this site until the permit is issued. If you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Christine Mattson
Planning Assistant
City of Orono
2750 Kelly Parkway Orono MN 55356(physical address)
PO Box 66 Crystal Bay MN 55323-0066 (mailing address)
9 952.249.4620 g 952.249.4616
® cmattson@ci.orono.mn.us -'l www.ci.orono.mn.us
Summer Office Hours began Monday, May 21,2012
Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am to 5 pm
Friday: 7:30 am to 11:30 am
OUR OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED: Wednesday,July 4, 2012
1
