I. Appendix A: City of Orono, MN Self -Evaluation <br />A. Review of Policies and Practices <br />The City's policies and practices include any City, department, or division policies and practices that <br />direct staff in its daily work activities. Policies and practices that relate to accessibility and ADA <br />conformance include: <br />1. Streets <br />The City of Orono owns nearly 50 miles of roadway that it is responsible for maintaining. The <br />Public Works Street Department conducts reactive and preventative maintenance activities to <br />keep roads in the best condition possible. In addition the City is responsible for undertaking <br />larger capital projects to ensure the long-term use and viability of its roadway infrastructure <br />as a transportation system. The following policies are maintained by the City of Orono <br />pertaining to streets: <br />■ Pavement Management Plan <br />■ Snow and Ice Management Policy <br />■ Street Maintenance Policy <br />a) Pavement Management Plan <br />To that end the City Council approved a Pavement Management Plan in 2014 laying out <br />the requirements for the next 10 years. The Plan contains identification and <br />improvement priorities for the City's recreational trail system as follows: <br />The City has nearly 3 miles of recreational trail that it owns and maintains. These trail <br />sections are as follows: <br />• Kelley Parkway — Old Crystal Bay Road to Willow Drive <br />• County Road 6 — Old Crystal Bay Road to Willow Drive <br />• Willow Drive — Kelley Parkway to County Road 6 <br />• Brown Road — City Limits (Long Lake) to County Road 6 <br />• Ferndale — Luce Line Trail to County Road 6 <br />Based on the current condition of the trails, it is anticipated that the following <br />improvements will be needed over a ten year period: <br />• Removing and replacing settled trail sections <br />• Removing and replacing severely cracked trail sections <br />• Fog sealing <br />b) Snow and Ice Management <br />A.1 <br />
