AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 5 <br />Item Description: Appointment of Accountant <br />Date: November 27, 2017 <br />Presenter: Ron Olson Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Finance Director Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to appoint Kelly Horn to the position of <br />Accountant with a starting date of 1/2/2017. <br />2. Background. The selection process for the Accountant position has been completed. A <br />total of 12 applications were received. After an initial review of the applications, four applicants <br />were selected to be interviewed. <br />The top candidate for the position is Kelly Horn. Kelly has a Bachelor's of Science in Business <br />from the University of Minnesota. She also has a Master's of Financial Management from Keller <br />Graduate School of Management in Accounting as well as a Master's of Business Arts from <br />Augsburg College in Business. Kelly is currently working for the CPA firm of MMKR as a Senior <br />Associate. Her duties include auditing of both cities and school districts. Her education and <br />experience as an auditor will be invaluable to the City. <br />3. Cost. Kelly will be compensated at step 5 of level 10 ($66,391.74) of the City's pay scale. <br />This is a full time position and is eligible for full city benefits including enrollment in the <br />Coordinated Plan of the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). <br />4. Funding. This position is funded through the Finance Department in the General Fund. <br />5. Staff Recommendation.
