Green Minneapolis <br />Placemaking at The Commons <br />Creating a Great Place for People <br />A great public place is the heart of a city. <br />The Commons is envisioned to be a great public place for Minneapolis -- vital and inclusive, a <br />gathering place of joy and community. Toward that vision, the City and Green Minneapolis <br />commit to making The Commons not only a great physical space (clean, green and beautiful) <br />but making it a great place for people. <br />With community-based participation at its center, Placemaking is both an overarching idea <br />and a hands-on process. Placemaking capitalizes on a community's strengths, inspiration and <br />potential to co -create a public place that contributes to health, happiness and well being. It <br />engages people where they are, activating a place they share. <br />Placemaking is an ancient idea finding new form in our most progressive and civically <br />minded cities, maximizing shared values.
