Project Approach <br />Task Four Explore the possibilities <br />The work of this task—arguably the most critical of the stages of the work—will occur <br />largely during a two-day on-site work session. Such an event needs to involve both <br />the Task Force and the community at key points during the work session, and will <br />be geared toward the definition of a preferred direction for Navarre's future. It will <br />not be a complete answer at this stage; rather, it will be the physical reflection of the <br />community's vision. <br />Additional Services: It may be beneficial to include a Real Estate Market Consultant <br />at this stage; service and scope to be discussed with the city. <br />DesiEn Workshorz Schedule <br />Day One <br />8:30am <br />Kick-off <br />Brief meeting to discuss summary of activities to <br />City Staff, Task Force, <br />date and to frame workshop plan <br />LHB Design Team <br />Morning <br />Focus Groups <br />Conduct three focus groups with key stakeholders <br />LHB Design Team <br />in the community oriented around core topics <br />such as land use and development, transportation <br />and access, and character and form <br />Afternoon <br />Team work <br />Based on input from the Downtown Task Force <br />LHB Design Team <br />session <br />and Town Meeting One and the Focus Group <br />discussions, record the conditions influencing <br />change in the Navarre area and assemble a <br />preliminary vision statement and principles to <br />guide the work of the design Generate alternative <br />concepts in diagram form, considering factors such <br />as movement; development, redevelopment and <br />renovation; public spaces; and other key features <br />Late Afternoon <br />Pin-up <br />Review of concepts (at whatever stage of <br />City Staff, Task Force, <br />development they happen to be) by the Task Force; <br />LHB Design Team <br />selection of the most appropriate concept for <br />refinement <br />Day Two <br />Morning <br />Team work <br />Review of Day One direction; refinement of the <br />LHB Design Team <br />session <br />concept; develop directions for downtown based <br />on the selected concept <br />Mid-day <br />Pin-up <br />Review of concepts by the Task Force; focus on <br />City Staff, Task Force, <br />directions to be developed for evening meeting <br />LHB Design Team <br />Afternoon <br />Team work <br />Develop preferred directions and illustrations <br />LHB Design Team <br />session <br />demonstrating the future of downtown, character <br />features, gathering places, and key initiatives <br />Evening <br />Town Meeting <br />Review preferred direction and key initiatives; <br />City Staff, LHB Design <br />Two <br />invite comments from attendees <br />Team, Downtown Task <br />Force, Farmington <br />community <br />I, PERFORMANCE <br />DRIVEN DESIGN. <br />City of Orono - Land Use Planning Services for the Navarre Area Plan 13 <br />
