• Coordinate the bidding of equipment and materials for parks, trails and the golf course. <br />• Establish and maintain safety programs related to parks, trails and the golf course. <br />• Assist Public Works Director in preparing short term and long term goals and objectives for <br />Parks, Trails and the Golf course <br />• Assist in developing an annual budget covering all functions of the Parks, Trails and the Golf <br />course, and monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget. <br />• Staff the Park Commission as needed. <br />• Act as liaison to assigned partner organizations and with community groups for volunteer <br />activities within the parks. <br />• Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity. <br />• Drives trucks and operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling and <br />unloading various equipment or materials. <br />• Serves as the city's tree inspector and assistant weed inspector. <br />• Assists with Snow Plowing during the winter months. <br />• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. <br />Required Knowledue, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br />• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and <br />maintenance. <br />• Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and <br />strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of <br />people, data, property, and institutions. <br />• Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer <br />and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for <br />services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. <br />• Administration and Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved <br />in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, <br />production methods, and coordination of people and resources. <br />• English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including <br />the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br />• Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel <br />recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and <br />personnel information systems. <br />Skills: <br />• Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand <br />the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate <br />times. <br />• Monitoring Monitor/Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to <br />make improvements or take corrective action. <br />• Speaking Talk to others to convey information effectively. <br />• Coordination — Adjust actions in relation to others' actions. <br />• Management of Personnel Resources — Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, <br />identifying the best people for the job. <br />• Time Management — manage one's own time and the time of others. <br />• Critical Thinking — Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of <br />alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. <br />Abilities: <br />The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />
