The purchase would be funded through the capital improvement program that was approved by
the participating cities each year. The estimated total cost for the truck is $442,930 but there is some
additional equipment needed that will add some costs. It is anticipated the total cost will not exceed
$475,000.
Walsh noted this has been discussed and planned for a number of years and that the fire department
looked at a number of options prior to making the decision to purchase a new truck.
Seals asked if there are other items the fire department is looking at purchasing in the future.
Reeder noted the fund balance listed in the report is Orono's fund balance and would go towards different
items in addition to Orono's share of the cost of the fire truck.
Chief Van Eyll stated per the contract the fire department has to provide a 15 -year capital improvement
program and that each City maintains their own fund balance.
Walsh asked what Orono's portion would be.
Reeder indicated Orono's portion would be approximately 85 percent of that cost.
