_ (952)472-0742 <br />5213 Shoretlne Dave <br />y- Mound, MN 55364 <br />www-weca"mn.org <br />NlesianCortrrraibes Ivetvrark, hx, <br />December 28, 2016 <br />Dear Mayor and City Council, <br />On behalf of Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN), i am asking your city to support our <br />application for Community Development Block Grant (CDOG) Consolidated Pool fund for 2017 vwM a <br />resolution and/or a letter of recommendation. <br />WeCAN is your community-based social service organization who mission is to provide support services <br />to empower and equip individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency. <br />WeCAN provides emergency rent/mortgage/utility assistance, family support programs, job counseling, <br />Meals on Wheels, and referrals for other services needed by our low-income clients. We also offer space <br />for clients to meet Hennepin County outreach workers, WIC, CAPSH and Adult Basic Education classes <br />(GED and ELL). Our newest program, the Mobile Market, Is successfully delivering food to those that <br />cannot access a traditional food shelf, mainly seniors and those with disabilities. We also provide kid - <br />friendly food bags to children during school breaks. <br />Your support for our application is vital to our organization receiving these funds. <br />The deadline for your resolution and/ora letter of recommendation Is February 1, 2017.
