Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gain approval for a transient merchant license <br />for Mark Lazarchic/ Renaissance Fireworks Inc. <br />TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE <br />Applicant: <br />Mark Lazarchic/Renaissance Fireworks Inc. <br />Activity: <br />Sale of Consumer Fireworks <br />Location: <br />3435 Shoreline Drive <br />Date: <br />June 23 through July 5, 2017 <br />Time: <br />10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Lazarchich has submitted an application for a transient merchant license to sell <br />fireworks from a tent located in the parking lot at 3435 Shoreline Drive. Orono's C i t y <br />code currently allows a transient merchant to be licensed initially for 10 days, with the <br />option for the City Council, at its sole discretion, to grant an extension for up to 50 <br />additional days. In addition, the code limits the hours of activity from 8:00 am to <br />8:00pm. Mr. Lazarchic has also submitted the attached request for Council approval to <br />allow 2 additional days of activity and an additional I hour of evening sales each day. <br />The transient merchant and sale of consumer fireworks applications have been reviewed <br />by staff and the Long Lake Fire Chief with recommendation for approval of the activity <br />as well as the requested additional days and hours of operation; provided no problems are <br />reported. Although Council approval is not required for the Sale of Consumer Fireworks <br />permit, a draft copy is attached for Council review. Council approved a transient <br />merchant license for Renaissance Fireworks in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016 for the sale <br />of consumer fireworks for additional days at the same location with the hours of <br />operation from 10: 00arn - 9: 00 pm. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve the listed license with 2 additional days and with the hours of operation from <br />10:00 a.m. — 9:00 p.m. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
