A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING STATUS QUO IN THE ACCESS TO COUNTY ROAD <br />1129 2160 Wayzata Boulevard FOR ORONO STATION WEST <br />WHEREAS, Hennepin County is reconstructing County Road 112 from Highway 12 to <br />County Road 6; and <br />WHEREAS, the reconstruction will take place over the next four years; and <br />WHEREAS, as part of the reconstruction, the County is planning to realign access <br />Orono Station West (2160 Wayzata Blvd; PIN 34-118-23-21-0002) has to County Road 12; and <br />WHEREAS, Orono Station West has two accesses to County Road 112; and <br />WHEREAS, the western access point has historically been and is currently <br />approximately 80 feet wide and Hennepin County's plan currently proposes to reduce the <br />western access to 36 feet wide; and, <br />WHEREAS, the owner of Orono Station West desires to keep the access at least 72 feet <br />wide consistent with other access points in Hennepin County's plan for County Road 112; and, <br />WHEREAS, the owner of Orono Station West has expressed concerns that the reduction <br />in access will likely have a negative impact on customers' ability and desire to frequent Orono <br />Station West by impeding access from County Road 112, having a negative impact on the <br />business; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono fully supports property owners and our business <br />community and wishes to see all of our businesses thrive; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono recognizes the importance of this critical corridor and <br />shares the goal of creating an efficient and safe environment for all road and trail users for <br />County Road 112 project; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council does hereby <br />support maintenance of the west access point to Orono Station West at its historic and current <br />width of approximately 80 feet subject to any change by mutual agreement of the owners of <br />Orono Station West and Hennepin county. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, at a regular meeting held <br />May 8, 2017. <br />ATTEST: <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br />
