AGENDAITEM <br />Item No.: 4 Date: April 24, 2017 <br />Item Description: Paperless Payroll <br />Presenter: Doug Reeder Agenda Consent Agenda <br />Interim City Administrator Section: <br />1. Purpose. Direct staff to investigate changing the current city payroll system to a paperless system. <br />2. Background. Currently all City Staff fill out a time paper time sheet which is then signed by the <br />appropriate supervisor and then sent to the finance Department to be used in preparing the payroll checks <br />every two weeks. The paper copies are then filed. There are available payroll systems which would allow <br />this whole process to be done electronically thus making it much less time consuming and not require <br />paper filing. <br />3. Funding. The cost of an electronic payroll system is not known and this may will be the determining <br />factor in deciding to purchase a system. <br />4. Staff Recommendation. I recommend that the City Council direct staff to investigate the purchase <br />of a paperless payroll system. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to direct staff to investigate the purchase of a paperless payroll system and present a <br />recommendation to the City Council at the May 22, 2017 meeting. <br />Prepared By: D5R <br />Reviewed By: <br />Approved By: D5R <br />
