Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gather Council approval on extending a sewer main and <br />water main to service 701 Dickey Lake Road and waiver of sewer and water connection fees. <br />2. Background. The property owner at 701 Dickey Lake Road has requested water and sewer service be <br />extended to service the property. The property's does not have adequate septic sites. The property is in <br />the Metropolitan Urban Service Area (MUSA). The nearest city sewer main is a gravity main on the west <br />side of Willow Drive. <br />3. Sewer Connection Fee. Per the City Fee Schedule the sewer connection fee is $5,100.00. The <br />estimated cost for the sewer main extension is $$37,632.50 (see Exhibit B). In light of the cost to extend <br />the main exceeding the connection fee cost the home owner requests the City waive the Connection fee. <br />4. Water Connection Fee. Per the City Fee Schedule the water connection fee is $4,240. The estimated <br />cost for the water main extension is $$31,685.00 (see Exhibit B). In light of the cost to extend the main <br />exceeding the connection fee cost the home owner requests the City waive the Connection fee. <br />5. Funding. All cost associated with the construction of the sewer and water mains and service lines will <br />be paid by the resident. Upon completion and acceptance by the city, ongoing maintenance of the sewer <br />and water main portions of the project will be the City's responsibility. <br />6. Way Forward. If the council approves of the project the follow steps would follow: <br />• Resident will acquire the necessary permits Permit process (MPGA, MCES, MCWD, Hennepin <br />County) <br />• The City will complete the design review <br />• Resident will construct the sewer main and service line. <br />• City will inspect and then accept the sewer main. <br />7. Staff Recommendation. After consideration of the proposed project, it is my recommendation to <br />approve the sewer and water extensions and to waive the connection fees. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Consider a motion to approve the sewer and water extensions and to waive the connection fees. <br />
