AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 16 <br />Date: February 12, 2018 <br />Item Description: #18-3997 — Rehkamp Larson, 1300 Bracketts Point Road, <br />Variances — Resolution <br />Presenter: Melanie Curtis Agenda Public Hearing <br />Planner Section: <br />Due <br />to an error in the public hearing notice for the January Planning Commission meeting, <br />and to ensure that all impacted property owners have the ability to comment, the public <br />hearing was opened at the Planning Commission meeting, and continued to the City <br />Council meeting. The City Council must open the public hearing, invite comment, and <br />close the public hearing for this item prior to discussion and vote. <br />Purpose. This application is regarding variances to conduct changes, primarily cosmetic <br />changes, to the roof of the home. <br />2. MN§15.99 Application Deadline. The application was received and was considered to <br />be complete December 13, 2017. The 60 -Day review period was extended and will expire <br />on April 12, 2018. <br />3. Background. The applicant is requesting a lake setback variance in order to change a flat <br />roof to a gable roof within the 75 -foot setback and an average lakeshore setback variance <br />in order to make cosmetic improvements and structural changes to the home situated <br />entirely lakeward of the average lakeshore setback line. <br />4. Planning Commission Comment. On January 16th, the Planning Commission opened a <br />public hearing and reviewed the application. Following the public hearing the Commission <br />voted 5 to 0 on a motion to approve the variances stating the improvements were thoughtful <br />and made sense. <br />5. Public Comment. No additional comments from the public were received regarding this <br />application. <br />6. Staff Recommendation.
