CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />NO. ________________________ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ORONO TO ENTER INTO A JOINT POWERS <br />AGREEMENT GOVERNING THE LAKE MINNETONKA SWAT TEAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the joint powers agreement (“Agreement”) is to establish an <br />organization, the Lake Minnetonka Swat Team, to jointly and cooperatively coordinate efforts to <br />develop and provide a response to critical incidents or high-risk situations where there is a risk of <br />criminal violence occurring with the jurisdiction of the Members of the Lake Minnetonka Swat <br />Team. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Members are entering into the Agreement to establish, equip and <br />operate an organization to coordinate their effort to develop and provide a joint response to <br />critical incidents or high risk situations in their jurisdictions where there is a risk of criminal <br />violence, through the use of negotiations and specialized tactics: and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Agreement is made pursuant to the authority conferred upon the parties <br />by Minnesota Statute 471.59; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Agreement is attached hereto as EXHIBIT A; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Agreement is consistent the previously authorized; involvement of the <br />Lake Minnetonka SWAT Team; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO, that it <br />should and hereby approve Orono Police Department to enter into the Agreement. <br /> <br />Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held this 8th day of April, <br />2019. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />___________________________ _________________________ <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
